This article aims to explain the support employee salary schedule for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.
The director of schools or designee establishes salary schedules and pay plans for employees that are based on the district’s strategic compensation plan and are designed to attract and maintain top quality staff. Support employees are placed on the Support Employee Salary Schedule. At the beginning of each school year, salary schedules are published for exempt and non-exempt employees of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. The basis of each scale is the previous year’s scale and any relative change approved by the Board of Education and subsequently funded by the budget approved by Metropolitan Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Scales for exempt and non-exempt support employees are published each school year. Each scale has a grade and a step. Grade is based on the position worked and step shows the placement within the grade range. The exempt support table reflects the annual salary for a full time, 12 month employee (2080 annual hours.) To calculate the approximate salary for a different work schedule code, divide the annual salary by 2080 annual hours worked, then multiply by the number of annual hours.
Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools is committed to fair and competitive compensation practices guiding development, maintenance, and decision-making. Therefore, support employees may not be paid below the minimum or above the maximum pay grade for their job classification. Any employee being paid above the maximum pay grade at the time this procedure is promulgated will be held at that salary without increases until their salary aligns with their pay grade, either through transfer to a new position or a change in the pay structure overall.
