How to Enter a Service Request

The video below breaks down the process for Submitting a Service Request. Additionally, the video highlights use of the application's My Favorites and Sharing functions as they relate to service requests.

Written Instructions:

First, find the right Service:

  1. Go to ServicesForYou.mnps.org.

  2. Sign in.

  3. Click the Services button. This will take you to the Service Catalog.
    • Note that isn’t not just for technology requests. You can make requests to HR and many other departments from here.
  4. Creating your request from the best Request Service page will route your request to the right group. Getting the request to the right group will get the best solution for your issue as quickly as possible.
  5. There are two ways to start your request in the right place: Drill Down or Search.
    1. Drill down: To find the right Service for your Request by “drilling down” through the Service Catalog categories:
      1. On the main Service Catalog page, click on a category that looks right for your request.
      2. Within that category, click the sub-category or topic that makes the most sense.
      3. Continue “drilling down” like this until you find the appropriate service listing.
    2. Search: To find the right Service for your request by searching the Service Catalog:
      1. On the main Service Catalog page, at the search field, use the drop-down to select Service Catalog for your search.
      2. In the Search field, enter a keyword or search term that fits your request.
      3. Click magnifying glass to execute the search.
      4. In the search results, click a Service listing that looks appropriate for your request.
  6. Whether you got here by drilling down or searching, take a look at the information on the Service page. Review the Summary and Services Provided. If it looks like the right place to submit your request, click the Request Service button.
    • If it doesn’t seem to be the right place for your request, try another search or drill down through the Service Catalog to find a better match for what you need.

Then complete the Service Request form:

  1. Click the Select Service button. This will open the Service Request form.

    • The fields in form and the information required for your request will differ depending on the Service you selected. You can click the question mark by a field to learn more about what information to put in that field.
    • Some fields you will encounter on most Service Requests:
      • Service Location: Specify a location here only if it’s different from your usual location.
      • Room or Alternate Location Information: Enter your room number.
      • Request Details: Explain the details of your issue/question/request.
      • Attachment: use this field to attach files to your request. One example is a screenshot of a problem you’re having on your computer.
  2. When you’ve completed all the fields to your satisfaction, click Submit.
  3. Once submitted, you’ll see the Request Created Successfully message. Your request will be routed to the team responsible for that Service, and you’ll receive updates by email.
